How To Plan For A Volunteer Trip?

The next time when you plan out for a vacation trip, try to do some thing good for the world. And this can be achieved by going on a volunteer vacation. Volunteer vacations enable the travelers to see the other parts of globe and help them to carry out activities such as providing medical care, education to the children, planting trees, etc. The following points will guide you on how to plan out and make your volunteer vacation extra ordinary.

Budget

The first and the foremost thing you need to have while going on a volunteer trip is to fix the budget in an appropriate way. You should remember that fact that trips are not cost-free and requires some serious planning. A proper planning in the budget can help you to save a lot of money.  Some volunteer trips last only for few days, so you have to plan the budget according to that. For instance, a camping trip based on hiking trail protection lasts only for a period of 3-4 days and you only need to spend money on gas and meals. Where as, some volunteer vacation programs last for about a year in which you have to spend several thousand dollars.

Review your interests and talents

If your volunteer trip is connected to your profession, then it’s very beneficial for you. Suppose if you are a doctor, you may select a volunteer trip for providing medical care for needy people and hence it will help you to develop your talents and skills. You can even try out for a new volunteer vacation for a new experience. Educating the street children inAfrica, promoting the agriculture in Tanzania etc are some of the possible volunteer jobs. Find time for yourself

A dedicated worker spends more time in his work. But they are aware of the importance of finding time for themselves. So, you definitely have to schedule a little time for yourself while you are on the volunteer vacation. Many volunteer vacation programs have come up with the side trips according to the volunteer’s interest. For example, one volunteer vacation program that sends the volunteer to participate in construction work inBelizealso set up trips toYucatanto explore the Mayan ruins. This helps you to avoid the worn out feelings that you may feel sticking to one task.

Enjoy the volunteer trip

The trips can be fun and filled with excitements, so you should never miss a part of it. However, there may be struggles and other challenges that you may have to face. You have to utilize the trips to the maximum level to gain benefits out of it.  The skills that you have developed during your volunteerism will be useful in the future in several ways. At the end of your volunteer vacation, you safely reach home with some sweet memories, happiness, satisfaction and calmness that come from realizing that you have done some thing better for the world.

Importance of Carrying a First Aid Kit During Trips

Every member of the volunteer vacations trip is in need of medical attention except utralighters who need simple comfort items they should have on them. There are many people who have almost died from diarrhea. Imodium (and the like) can help sustain life.  At the very least it can help one continue to perform physically when needed, which may in turn, help sustain life.

Applying antiseptic and a band aid to a minor scrape may not sustain life, but it is considered “first aid.”  Don’t forget, you targeted “Moleskin and Imodium.”  Why, after that, is it important to you that these are not considered “first aid” We generally need to carry both products. We must be willing to share our limited supplies with whoever needs them.   By giving up a critical quantity of a critical item to help them continue with their adventure. he term “untralight” can be debated for years as to its exact context. A 15lb pack for some is Ultra-light while a 30lb for others is also considered ultra-lightweight.

Bird Club Field Trips

I have been overhauling the field trips for my club (the Paskamansett club in SE Mass.) and thought that readers would be interested in hearing what I am considering and have suggestions. The aim of the overhaul is to get new members and especially novices interested in birding without boring the jaded regulars. In particular I am changing the orientation from fall and winter trips to spring and summer. Traditionally the club shut down for the summer. Although other clubs adopt a similar strategy, I feel that warm-weather trips are the way to get newcomers interested.  Although the winter trips will remain, there will be a host of new spring and summer volunteer vacations trips.

I have looked at the existing trips and eased out some of the tired, old trips that had poor attendance, saw few birds, and froze the participants.   These trips are beginner-killers. I have also been trying to make the trips more exotic. I will try to run trips to property that is not normally accessible to birders (private and restricted property); this adds immensely to the “adventure” of the trip. I have added a lot of limited-participant trips that will be via small boat(s) on our local waterways. The new trips I am adding will attempt to get the participants close looks at target birds.  I also am scouring the area for colorful, entertaining leaders

Vacation vs. Home

It is found the sense of confidence and freedom of being in a new city is inspiring and it feels easier to talk to people, try new things, etc.  Does anyone else feel similar with travelling and moving to new places? Also, this brings up the concept of what it means to be a ‘local’ vs. ’on vacation’  I.e. there are different social expectations when you are in your hometown and perceptions others have that are different if you are a new resident or are n volunteer vacations.  It also begs the question if there is some way to ‘transfer’ the feelings of confidence from travelling and apply them to your hometown, and experience adventure within a city you’ve lived in for years – i.e. be a ‘tourist’ in your own city.

What would be the best is to make peace and resolve certain types of conflicts that I experience at home, so as to feel more refreshed when travelling. It’s a mistake to move to avoid problems at home by ‘escaping’ them in this way, because when moving to a new city, they are likely to repeat themselves.

On the other hand, travelling can provide a sense of adventure that is hard to duplicate at home, because there is the sense of unfamiliarity, and if you’re familiar with your home city, then it can be boring at times.
